Park Point

Think exclusive New Zealand property – think Park Point.

Waiheke Island is just a short boat ride from Auckland and due to its location offers some of New Zealand’s most exclusive real estate.

Park Point is a new development on an expansive peninsula that offers unbelievable views back towards the city and over the harbour. The website looks to capture the exclusive nature of the Park Point project, now in its second stage of development. New Asynchronous Google Analytics tracking code

In December 2009 Google released new asynchronous tracking code for Analytics tracking on websites. The benefits of this, from the Google blog are:

  • Faster tracking code load times for your web pages due to improved browser execution
  • Enhanced data collection & accuracy
  • Elimination of tracking errors from dependencies when the JavaScript hasn’t fully loaded

The way the new asynchronous code works is that most browsers will load the asynchronous tracking code in parallel with other scripts on the page, thus reducing the web page load time.

The new code can be found here

Problems with Google Rankings

After extensive research we have read a lot on a ‘MayDay’ alert affecting Google rankings and Websites that use long tail search terms.. so whats a long tail?

It is when you get a search engine return for your website when a person has added in 3 or more terms. e.g. “best restuarant queenstown” or ” book the great activity in queenstown”. It does seem from the papers sent out from “http://www.axandra.com/” that monitors the Google and a range of others Search Engines.

Google does every now and again shift the world’s businesses around when ever they make changes to their Algorithm, so its alwasy a teething problem. “Axandra” reports that some webistes have lost as much as 70% of their traffic which would kill most online businesses, so everyone is scratching at getting SEO done on their back end so that they can stabilise again.

So what can you do?? First check to see if there has been an effect from the change in the Google Algorithm, then run search strings for both short and long keyword search terms.

(you should always be doing this anyways, in some cases at least once every 2-3 days)

Then we would suggest strengthening 1 or 2 of your long tails, choosing the best one’s that you believe are the most important for the searches that will bring you high quality traffic. Then optimise your main pages to carry out the effect you want.

And then wait till Google scans your website and then check those rankings!!

Waiheke Accom – Waiheke has it all!

We delivered the new Waiheke Accom website back in February and we have been working to improve since it went live making sure it works with their business model.

The site acts as an online booking system for holiday home accommodation on Waiheke Island. The fresh clean layout makes it easy to browse the property listings and walk through a booking process. Each property has an image slideshow, Google maps and a list of facilities. All these feature can be administrated via the backend by the team at Waiheke, giving them ultimate control to add new properties and keep existing ones up to date.

The other important aspect of this project is the optimization service we have offered Waiheke Accom since before the new site went live. Due to the competitive nature of the holiday home rental market in Waiheke the position of the site in the Google rankings is obviously very important. Waiheke have used a combination of paid advertising and organic search engine optimization to secure a foothold on page one of the ranking results.
